the best thing i can tell you is don't make war with everyone.
heres what i did.
1. made friends
2. made a good military
3. trade for open borders (means you can go into there territory)
4.set war on the worst civ. and get people to help me.
5. choose good research which will help you with different things.
6. make shore to make the wonders of the world.
7. get reilegion
that is what i have done and planning to do. oh yeah, make sure not to to choose the island.
